This article examines how language is shaped by culture and vice versa, using empirical studies and modern sociolinguistic examples. The study delves into gender and ethnic bias in language, cultural censorship in Brazil and the United States, the impact of adolescents and social networks on linguistic change, and the latest "Skibidi Toilet Syndrome" issue. The methodology includes a bibliographic review of pertinent academic and press publications, as well as popular surveys. The conclusion is that language alteration is caused by changes in speaker behaviour and conventions, but that word bans or political censorship have an impact on both local and worldwide culture.
