The purpose of this study is to describe nursing teaching in a surgical center in Brazil, specifically on teaching in the surgical center area, based on the scientific production elaborated in the post-institution decade of the Nursing Curricular Guidelines. The methodological course used was bibliographic research. We analyzed the abstracts of 147 scientific papers related to each unit. Thus, the word for inclusion of the articles for research was Teaching, Teaching and surgical center. From these, 12 articles were selected, which after a brief reading of the abstracts, were selected: 01 (one) articles related to Nursing Surgical Center, 09 (nine) articles related to Nursing Teaching and 02 (two) related to Teaching Nursing Surgical Center. The data were organized from an adapted script, proposed by Polit, Beck and Hungler, that aided in the systematization of key information. This study reinforces the importance of the pedagogical reorganization in the formation of the professional in the health area specifically nursing. It was verified that the nursing professional has demonstrated a pedagogical deficiency during his academic formation, being necessary a restructuring of these concepts. In addition, he observed the need for changes in the formulation of the surgical discipline, both in the pedagogical reformulation of the content, adjusting the reality of the workload, and adjusting the reality according to the Curricular Nursing guidelines, although some schools already practiced this change.
