This experience report aims to describe a psychological intervention carried out with employees of the Association for the Protection and Assistance of Convicts (APAC) of Timon-MA, with the aim of promoting mental health and reducing symptoms of stress and anxiety in the workplace. Considering the challenging context of the prison system and the emotional impacts faced by employees, the action was structured in three meetings. Initially, a diagnostic visit to the institution was carried out, followed by a conversation circle with breathing dynamics and application of the SRQ-20 to assess the presence of common mental disorders. Finally, a lecture with a guest psychologist was held, discussion of the collected data and delivery of informative material. The results obtained from the application of the SRQ-20 pointed out signs of psychological distress among the participants, highlighting the importance of spaces for listening, welcoming and strategies for continuous care with mental health in the institutional environment. The experience reinforces the need to look at the well-being of professionals who work directly with the prison population, also highlighting the relevance of psychological care as an essential resource for the humanization of work.
