Introduction: Breast cancer is characterized as a significant public health problem, being a more significant neoplasm in females. Surgical treatment is the most commonly used method for most cancers. After surgical treatment for breast cancer, we may encounter limitations in upper limb functionality, such as: pain, paresthesia, lymphedema, decreased muscle strength and reduced range of motion. Objective: To evaluate the effect of physiotherapeutic protocols on post-mastectomy upper limb functionality in women. Methodology: This study consists of a literature review, based on scientific productions indexed in the following databases: Virtual Health Library (VHL), Lilacs, SciELO and PUBMED. The focus of the research is the physiotherapeutic protocol applied to patients undergoing radical mastectomy. The literature review aims to answer specific questions, employing systematic methods to identify and evaluate selected studies. Articles from the period 2015 to 2025 were used. Results: After the initial screening of 100 articles, 10 studies were selected for final analysis. The results demonstrated that physiotherapy—especially through kinesiotherapy, joint mobilizations, stretching, and manual lymphatic drainage— significantly improved range of motion, muscle strength, and pain reduction. Additionally, a positive impact was observed on quality of life and the reintegration of patients into daily living activities. Conclusion: Physiotherapy proved to be essential in the functional rehabilitation of post-mastectomy women, serving as an effective resource in preventing complications and promoting functional autonomy.
