Abstract

This article aims to analyze the role of nurses in family planning and sexual education, with an emphasis on the challenges faced, the practices adopted, and the impacts on health promotion. The research was conducted through a literature review based on recent academic publications. Three main areas were addressed: sexual education as a prevention tool, cultural and institutional challenges, and the nurse as a social transformation agent. The results show that, despite advances in public policies and the increasing recognition of the nurse’s role in primary care, there are still barriers that hinder the effective implementation of educational and care actions. It is concluded that strengthening professional training, institutional support, and community awareness are essential for a more effective and transformative practice.
