Abstract

The inspection of products of animal origin plays a crucial role in safeguarding public health by ensuring that food derived from animals reaches consumers in safe conditions and meets established hygiene and sanitary standards. More than a technical procedure, it is a practice grounded in social responsibility and ethical commitment to life. This study aims to reflect on the various aspects that involve inspection practices, analyzing their relevance within the production chain and the challenges faced by professionals in the field. Based on a critical perspective and supported by official documents, scientific literature, and updated legislation, the research seeks to understand how monitoring and control measures directly influence food quality and consumer protection. Throughout the discussion, the study highlights recent regulatory advances, such as the updates to the RIISPOA, and examines the compliance requirements at municipal, state, and federal levels. It also emphasizes the essential role of veterinarians and other professionals involved in inspection activities, reinforcing the need for ongoing training and ethical performance. The theme underlines the urgency of integrating technical rigor, human sensitivity, and collective responsibility in practices related to food safety and animal-origin products.
