This paper aims to reflect on the continuing education of journalist teachers, seeking to understand how this can generate implications for educational practices. To this end, we use bibliographical research to work with references that guide the discussion on the topic and reflect on their contributions to our debate, as well as documentary research, based on official documents available on digital platforms. We reflect on the different types of knowledge used by teachers in their professional practice, focusing on knowledge from experience, both that acquired as journalists and as teachers. We then think about the need for pedagogical training and how mandatory continuing education (postgraduate studies) can contribute to this process of becoming a teacher. We conclude with proposals on how these aspects can generate consequences for professional practices.
