Abstract

This article discusses the development and impacts of the “Feira Sustentável Instituto Geração Kidesperta” project, an initiative that promoted the exchange of used books for food, with educational, environmental and solidarity purposes, in Juazeiro do Norte-CE. The focus of the local action was to simultaneously inspire environmental responsibility, strengthen solidarity practices and guarantee access to reading and food for children in situations of social vulnerability. The text details, in a critical and well-founded manner, the process of conception, execution, results, limitations and possibilities of replication of the experience, based on the literature on sustainability, SDG 12, reverse logistics and community volunteering.
