Introduction: Fibromyalgia is a chronic disease that causes pain, fatigue, and emotional disturbances. Conventional treatments have limited efficacy, making acupuncture, which stimulates specific points of the body to alleviate symptoms, a promising alternative. Objective: To analyze, through a literature review, the efficacy of acupuncture in the treatment of fibromyalgia, exploring its effects, mechanisms, limitations, and potential. Materials and Methods: Systematic review carried out in the SCIELO, Google Scholar, LILACS, and BVS databases, using descriptors related to fibromyalgia, acupuncture, physical therapy, traditional Chinese medicine, and chronic pain, with the Boolean operator “AND”. Result: Acupuncture proved to be effective and safe in alleviating fibromyalgia symptoms, such as pain and fatigue, improving quality of life. However, further studies are needed to standardize treatments and evaluate long-term effects. Conclusion: Acupuncture is a valid option in the management of fibromyalgia, but requires additional research for optimization.
