Abstract

This article sought to understand how emotional intelligence is applied in high-risk situations by officers of the Special Operations and Command Company (COE) of the Paraná Military Police. The COE Company is an elite unit responsible for operating in various high-risk situations and is considered the corporation's last tactical response. Given the complexity and pressure involved in these operations, emotional intelligence emerges as an essential element for efficient and balanced decision-making in adverse scenarios. This study aims to analyze the importance of emotional intelligence in the performance of officers of the Special Operations and Command Company, assessing its impact on the conduct of critical incidents. To this end, a narrative literature review was conducted, seeking to understand how the development of emotional intelligence can contribute to improving operational performance and managing the stress faced by officers when confronting crime.
