Abstract

This article addresses paternal emotional neglect, there are several issues regarding the rights of children and adolescents that, despite advancements in the Brazilian system, have shortcomings in addressing this specific theme.The current law does not clearly elucidate the meaning and legal consequences for those who practice it, examine the connections between the absence of affection from parents and the emergence of emotional and behavioral difficulties in children in adulthood, identify the main risk factors that cause paternal emotional abandonment. Analyze public policies and new laws in force on the subject to prevent and combat paternal emotional abandonment, considering the gender perspective. Examine the chance of financial compensation for moral damages caused due to emotional abandonment in childhood. And the general objective is to analyze the psychological, ethical and legal consequences of paternal emotional abandonment.
