Abstract

With the enactment of Constitutional Amendment No. 103 of 2019, changes in retirement and pension rules directly impact the lives of millions of workers, especially the elderly, who depend on these policies to guarantee their dignity and quality of life. The general objective of this work is to analyze the impacts of the pension reform on the fundamental rights and dignity of elderly workers. Specifically, the aim is to examine the changes in legislation and their implications, investigate the effects on dignity and living conditions, and review the literature on the perceptions of elderly workers. The methodology used is bibliographic research, which allows for a broad review of the existing literature on the subject, enabling the construction of a well-founded analysis based on pertinent academic and legal discussions. Throughout the study, it was possible to conclude that the 2019 pension reform generated profound impacts on the lives of elderly workers, especially with regard to their ability to access retirement and maintain their quality of life after retirement.
