This paper analyzes the relationship between couples as a family entity, which creates significant challenges for partners regarding inheritance and asset protection. The lack of legal support worsens the financial and emotional vulnerability of these individuals, requiring legislative reforms to ensure equitable rights. The methodology adopted is qualitative and exploratory, based on bibliographic analysis and court decisions, seeking to identify solutions that promote greater legal certainty and social justice. The study highlights the need for legislative advances to mitigate inequalities and ensure protection for all individuals, regardless of the format of the emotional relationship.
