This paper describes the experiences of undergraduates in Medicine in the discipline Practice of Integration between Teaching, Service and Community 1 (PIESC 1) of a Federal Higher Education Institution in Minas Gerais. Records of field diaries were used between March and July 2019 in practices in a Family Health Strategy (FHS). The discipline is offered in the first semester of the course, with early insertion of students in the context of Primary Health Care (PHC). The students experienced the work routine of the team, made home visits, made the situational diagnosis through territorialization, with construction of the map of the area covered by the FHS. The early insertion of students in the context of PHC was satisfactory, as it allowed the practical experimentation of the service, recognition of the vulnerabilities and potentialities of families, besides allowing better assimilation between the theoretical and practical contents, with effective integration between teaching, service and community. It’s necessary to incorporate these practices into the curricula and in the training of students from the various courses in the health area, also allowing interprofessional work, in order to legitimize the attributes of PHC and the right to health of populations.
