This paper aims to analyze the impacts of Law 14.133/2021 on the governance of public procurement in Brazil. It is an exploratory study with a bibliographic and survey approach to analyze theories, regulations and publications, using a qualitative methodology with a descriptive approach. The research briefly presents the evolution of corporate and public governance and provides concepts and principles on the subject. In the end, it was observed that the new contracting regime presents various mechanisms that foster significant advances in the governance of public contracting, despite the fact that many points still need to be regulated. The research highlights the new features of the New Law with regard to governance in public procurement, such as the planning principle, segregation of duties, integrity policies, inclusion of a responsibility matrix, a training plan, risk management, virtualization of procurement processes, a focus on results, the need to draw up an annual procurement plan (PCA), alignment between procurement, strategic planning and budget laws, among others. In this way, these innovations offer better control and planning mechanisms for public spending.
