The general objective of this article is to analyze the effectiveness of the Statute of Persons with Cancer (Law No. 14,238/2021) in guaranteeing the rights and promoting the quality of life of cancer patients in Brazil. Specifically, we sought to: (i) identify the main rights guaranteed by the Statute of Persons with Cancer and their importance in protecting cancer patients; (ii) examine the challenges faced in the implementation and enforcement of Law No. 14,238/2021 in Brazil; and (iii) evaluate the impact of the legislation on improving access to treatments and public policies aimed at cancer patients. The relevance of this study lies in the need to understand whether the Statute of Persons with Cancer has fulfilled its role of ensuring rights and guaranteeing better living conditions for cancer patients in Brazil. Methodologically, this work is characterized as a bibliographic research, based on the analysis of scientific articles, legislation, institutional reports, and other relevant sources on the subject. The analysis of the impacts of the Statute reveals the need for an ongoing commitment to the enforcement of the rights of cancer patients. For the legislation to fulfill its role, it is essential that all of us, as a society, unite around this cause.
