This article analyzes the effects of implementing public governance on the management of public resources in the contemporary Brazilian context. The main objective is to understand how governance mechanisms influence administrative efficiency, resource allocation, and interinstitutional coordination in the public sector. The research, of a qualitative nature and bibliographic approach, is based on recent studies published between 2019 and 2022, covering the areas of health, education, environment, and strategic management. Content analysis allowed us to identify that mature institutional structures, the strategic use of data, and social participation are determining elements for the success of governance practices. The results reveal that, although there are normative advances and successful experiences, obstacles related to administrative fragmentation, lack of interoperability between systems, and low maturity of knowledge management in public institutions persist. The final reflection points to the importance of consolidating evidence-based governance models, federative cooperation, and the appreciation of public servants as a strategy to improve resource management and strengthen social trust in state institutions.
