Abstract

Introduction: Teenage pregnancy is a significant global public health problem, exacerbated in developing countries due to socioeconomic inequalities and restricted access to health services. In this context, nurses, equipped with specific training and communication skills, are crucial agents in health promotion and sexual education. Therefore, it is essential that their work be based on a holistic and integrated approach, respecting the individualities and particularities of the adolescents served, promoting a safe and welcoming environment for the discussion of sensitive topics. Objective: To investigate the role of nurses in preventing the recurrence of teenage pregnancy, in order to identify and improve intervention strategies. Methodology: This is an integrative literature review, with data collection carried out between March and April 2025, through the SciELO, BVS and Lilacs databases. The following were included in the inclusion criteria: articles published between 2015 and 2023, available in Portuguese and English for free, and that addressed the topic in question in full. The following articles were excluded: duplicates (present in more than one database), articles in Spanish, monographs, dissertations, incomplete articles, and those that did not align with the objectives of the study. Results and discussions: The studies analyzed demonstrated the importance of qualified care for adequate intervention to prevent early pregnancy. However, we must emphasize the challenges that were exposed, which nurses face in proposing more strategies for educational actions, establishing bonds with adolescents and their families, paying attention to social and socioeconomic problems to promote the well-being of adolescents. Conclusion: Therefore, it is necessary to understand the problems that young people face, as well as the factors that contribute to early pregnancy, and to establish educational measures with adequate planning to provide qualified nursing care.
