This article analyzes the importance of the socio-legal field for the implementation of fundamental rights in the Brazilian prison system. The research is based on an explanatory approach, based on a bibliographic review, and examines the interdisciplinary work of actors such as the Public Defender's Office, social movements, university groups and civil organizations. The socio-legal field is understood as a strategic space for articulation between legal and social knowledge, capable of challenging authoritarian practices and promoting transformations in the penal system. The study highlights emblematic cases, such as ADPF 347 and prison task forces, showing that socio-legal action goes beyond denunciation and effectively contributes to the construction of public policies and the recognition of the dignity of incarcerated individuals. It is concluded that the socio-legal field is essential to confront mass incarceration, criminal selectivity and structural violations of human rights in Brazil, promoting a legal practice committed to social justice.
