Abstract

Introduction: Telemedicine and mental health apps have become essential tools in promoting healthcare, especially with the growing demand for efficient and accessible medical services. With the COVID-19 pandemic, these technologies gained popularity, offering an alternative to in-person care. However, questions arise regarding efficacy, safety, and treatment adherence, which are relevante to ensure the quality of care provided. Objective: analyze the efficacy, safety, and treatment adherence provided by telemedicine and mental health apps, exploring their advantages and limitations in clinical practice. Methodology: The research adopted a qualitative approach, conducting a literature review of scientific articles, health organization reports, and case studies on the use of telemedicine and mental health apps. Studies published in the last five years were selected, focusing on the effectiveness of these resources in monitoring patients with mental health disorders such as depression and anxiety. Data security and treatment adherence were also key aspects of the analysis. Discussion: Telemedicine has proven effective in diagnosing and monitoring patients, providing access to healthcare professionals in remote areas and reducing the burden on conventional healthcare services. Mental health apps, on the other hand, offer continuous support, helping monitor users’ well-being and promoting self-care. However, issues related to data security, such as the protection of patients’ personal information, and treatment adherence, with the potential lack of patient commitment, remain significant challenges. The personalization of services and continuous support are relevante to improving the acceptance and success of these treatments. Conclusion: Telemedicine and mental health apps have great potential to enhance treatment efficacy and expand access to healthcare. However, data security and treatment adherence continue to be critical points that require attention. The integration of these resources with traditional clinical practices could be the key to optimizing care and providing innovative solutions for mental health.
