This study aimed to highlight the importance of early diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and the role of nurses in caring for children with this condition. The research was conducted through a bibliographic review, based on scientific articles published between 2015 and 2025, consulted in databases such as the Virtual Health Library (BVS) and Google Scholar. The selection followed specific inclusion and exclusion criteria, and data analysis was conducted according to the PRISMA model. The results indicate that primary care nurses have a fundamental role in observing early signs of ASD, in guiding families and in referring patients to specialists. However, challenges such as the lack of specific training and the absence of standardized protocols hinder the effectiveness of this role. It is concluded that continuous training of nurses and the implementation of screening protocols are essential to improve the early identification of ASD. Furthermore, integration between health and education professionals can contribute to faster diagnosis and more humanized care, benefiting the child and their family.
