The objective of this article was to study the concepts and uses of explosives and, in this context, to examine the safety assumptions for military police officers when they use explosives in their activities. This was a literature review in which the research method adopted was exploratory and descriptive with a qualitative approach. The results showed that ensuring the safety of explosives officers in the face of critical incidents involving bombs and explosives needs to be based on knowledge and training, which is the first condition for preserving the physical integrity of individuals and police officers who act in incidents involving bombs and explosives. It is concluded that the risk is present and can be very harmful, as in all activities involving explosives. Therefore, it is necessary to ensure that all precautions are taken to reduce the risk and increase the safety of military police officers when using explosives in their overt policing activities.
