Burnout Syndrome (BS) is a psychological disorder caused by repeated emotional stress, initially seen only as a phenomenon related to the work environment. However, university students can also be considered as "employees" who perform academic tasks that may lead to high expectations regarding their professional careers, making them susceptible to physical and mental exhaustion. The objective of the present study was to investigate the prevalence of Burnout Syndrome symptoms among university students in the Biomedical Science course. This is a cross-sectional study conducted with 62 students from the Biomedical Science course at a private higher education institution in the city of Uberlândia, Minas Gerais. The "Maslach Burnout Inventory - Student Survey (MBI-SS)" questionnaire was applied in the study to assess BS symptoms. Results: The mean and standard deviation of the total MBI-SS questionnaire score was 46.53 ± 9.2, with 70.97% (n= 44) of the university students presenting symptoms of Burnout Syndrome (BS). It is concluded that among university students in the Biomedical Science course, there was a high prevalence of Burnout Syndrome symptoms. The need for guidance on the risk factors leading to BS and the creation of strategies for health promotion and BS prevention is highlighted.
