The Support Program for Restructuring and Expansion Plans of Brazilian Federal Universities (Reuni) brought several impacts with the internalization of higher education. Thus, the article aims to analyze the objective and subjective impacts of this implementation. The objective effects analyzed the socioeconomic impacts on the federal institutions covered and their respective small and medium-sized municipalities. The subjective effects considered the personal consequences in the lives of teachers inserted through public selection processes motivated by Reuni. The methodology used is that of integrative review and the results indicated significant structural expansion of the institutions, with expansion and consolidation of multicampus, growth in the hiring of technical staff and selection processes for teachers. The economic and social impacts were more expressive and generated changes in small cities. For teachers, disruptive impacts were evident in the process of adaptation, permanence in the location, increase in pedagogical activities and precariousness of teaching work.
