The present work addresses the use of WhatsApp in the development of learning in the period of the Covid-19 pandemic, in the years 2020 and 2021, in 33 schools in the northern region of Piauí. Considering that teachers from all over the world had to innovate teaching, in a more incisive and proactive way. Among the digital technologies available, we chose the aforementioned application as the object of study, since it has become the most used tool by teachers and students in remote classes. Since this teaching model was adopted to mitigate the risks and losses, in the face of an atypical and emergency period. The research was carried out with 544 teachers, under the jurisdiction of the 2nd GRE of the State Network, located in the municipality of Barras - PI. Based on the collected and analyzed data, we observed a critical and worrying scenario: unavailability of computers and cell phones; lack of knowledge of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs); insecurity with the digital platforms of the State Education Network; difficulty accessing the internet; and, finally, families sharing the phone with their children to follow up on remote classes.
