This study addressed the implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in distance learning courses, aiming to analyze its advantages, disadvantages, and challenges. The central question was to identify how AI impacts teaching and learning processes in this educational model. To achieve this objective, the research was conducted through a bibliographic approach, analyzing studies and articles related to the use of AI in distance education. The development of the paper discussed the advantages of personalized learning, automation of administrative tasks, and improved feedback to students. However, disadvantages such as technological dependence, dehumanization of interaction in teaching, and security and privacy issues were also addressed. Additionally, challenges related to educator training and infrastructure required for adoption of AI were identified. In the final considerations, it was emphasized that although AI holds great potential, its implementation must be careful and balanced, focusing on adapting pedagogical practices and overcoming structural challenges. The study contributed to the reflection on AI use in education, pointing out the need for further research to understand its long-term impacts.
