The Gender Reassignment Process was established in Brazil in 2008, allowing access to hormone-based procedures, body and genital modification surgeries, as well as multidisciplinary monitoring. The program was redefined and expanded by Ordinance 2803/2013, incorporating trans men and transvestites as users of the Gender Reassignment Process of the SUS, given that until then only trans women were assisted by the service. However, it is clear that few people are able to access health care, a fundamental human right guaranteed and guaranteed by law, based on the principle of equality. The creation of the Gender Reassignment Process of the SUS is an important step forward in universalizing this for the Brazilian trans population and a great achievement for social movements. However, the implementation of this program still poses some challenges for SUS managers and workers, but especially for the trans population, given that there are still few services and there are issues that limit access for the majority of our population.
