The article aims to discuss the experiences of teachers in a 24-hour project entitled “Landscaping in the School Environment” carried out in a state school in the city of Cáceres/MT with elementary school children. The purpose of writing this article is to instigate a rethinking of public education policies regarding children's contact with nature. We know that the term “environment” is considered by the general thinking of scholars as synonymous with nature, a place to be appreciated, respected and preserved, therefore, it is extremely important to establish the notion in human beings of belonging to the environment, to which they have natural bonds for their survival, from an early age. The term landscaping according to Rebouças (2004) is the resulting relationship between climate and soil, which are the evolutionary processes of man on nature in the face of his desires imposed by society. The 24-hour project was designed with the purpose of providing an environment where children could be in contact with planting and organization as a way of preserving nature.
