This study investigated how immersive technologies, such as virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), can be effectively utilized to drive innovations in the educational process, considering existing pedagogical practices and the challenges of their implementation. The primary objective was to analyze the impact of these technologies on teaching, identifying their benefits, limitations, and potential for transforming pedagogical methodologies. The research employed a qualitative approach based on a bibliographic review of relevant scientific articles, books, and dissertations. The findings indicated that both VR and AR have the potential to enhance education by providing immersive experiences that facilitate the understanding of complex concepts and the practical application of knowledge. Additionally, the study showed that these technologies could increase student motivation, fostering dynamic and interactive learning environments. However, implementing VR and AR faces significant challenges, including high costs, lack of infrastructure, and the need for specialized teacher training. The concluding remarks emphasized that, despite their clear benefits, overcoming technical and pedagogical barriers is essential for the widespread adoption of these technologies. Further studies were suggested to complement the findings, particularly regarding the effectiveness of integrating these technologies into various educational contexts.
