Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a psychiatric disorder characterized by the presence of obsessions and compulsions, which significantly affect the quality of life of those affected. Obsessions are intrusive thoughts, images, or impulses that invade the mind, while compulsions are behaviors performed to alleviate or neutralize the distress caused by the obsessions. This article aims to deepen the understanding of the impact of OCD on quality of life (QoL), discussing its themes, the challenges related to its identification, and the implications for clinical practice. Through a bibliographic review, various aspects of OCD and evidence-based therapeutic strategies, with an emphasis on Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), are addressed. The relevance of this topic lies in the need to expand the understanding of this disorder in order to promote more assertive and integrative interventions, aiming at improving the quality of life (QoL) of individuals affected.
