This article presents an excerpt from a master's dissertation research that investigates the implementation of Law No. 10.639/2003 in the pedagogical practice of the Barão do Rio Branco State School, in Parelhas/RN. The study adopts qualitative and quantitative approaches and uses questionnaires, document analysis and pedagogical workshops as its main methodological instruments. The research sought to train teachers and managers for the effective inclusion of Afro-Brazilian history and culture in the school curriculum, promoting inclusive and non-discriminatory pedagogical practices. The results indicated significant advances, such as greater awareness among teachers about structural racism and increased cultural representation in school activities. However, challenges such as initial resistance from educators, scarcity of teaching materials and limited time for curricular adaptation were identified. It is concluded that the continuity of actions, combined with the strengthening of public policies and pedagogical resources, is essential to consolidate the objectives of Law No. 10.639/2003, contributing to an education that values diversity and promotes racial equality.
