The study addressed the issue of how digital technologies can act as catalysts in promoting active learning experiences. The overall objective was to analyze the role of digital technologies in encouraging student protagonism and the integration of innovative practices in the educational context. The research, which was exclusively bibliographic in nature, used a qualitative approach to investigate reference works that explore the potential and challenges of using digital technologies in teaching. During the development, fundamental concepts about active learning were discussed and how digital technologies, when integrated in a planned manner, facilitate collaboration, creativity and student engagement. Practical examples were presented that highlighted the positive impact of technologies on teaching and the limitations encountered, such as inadequate infrastructure and the need for teacher training. Through citations from selected authors, the relevance of educational practices that use technology as a mediation tool was highlighted. The final considerations indicated that digital technologies are effective instruments for transforming teaching, promoting greater interaction and autonomy in the learning process. It was concluded that, although challenges still persist, such as unequal access and cultural resistance, future studies are needed to broaden the understanding of the application of specific technologies and to overcome the limitations identified.
