This article aims to collect data that helps to understand the main events that form the history of Brazilian education, its programs and legal decrees throughout its development. Furthermore, it presents the emergence of education in the early days of Brazil and its peculiarities: the emergence occurred in a colonial economic context that did not prioritize schooling and schooling was not valued by the colonizers or by the population in general. This study intends to publicize the development and implementation of education in Brazil, the policies that favored the implementation and implementation, from early childhood education, through Elementary and its divisions, the regulations for secondary education and higher education. The main sources were: Darius and Darius (2008), Beluzo (2015), Kassar (2011), the website of the Ministry of Education (MEC), among others. The research was carried out theoretically, in a careful bibliographic and documentary research through the SciELO platforms, Google Scholar among others.
