THE IMPACT OF DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES ON LEARNING: LINKS TO ENGAGE STUDENTS IN MEANINGFUL LEARNING

The present study aims to analyze meaningful learning through the use of digital technologies, observing innovative aspects that can enhance teaching practices in teaching. Nowadays, technological mechanisms have become incidents and recurrent when referring to the elaboration of classes. It is noticeable that students' motivation and engagement are improved with the use of technologies, thus exploring them through digital and gamification platforms. The methodology adopted for this study was qualitative. The sample was composed of 35 students from an elective class, who are part of the 1st years A, B and C of High School. The innovative teaching model was confronted with the traditional one by using educational games and interactive technological platforms, such as Kahoot!, Quizizz, Wordwall, Google Forms, Software (PowerPoint) and Lingo Clip. Such resources were increased through the use of cell phones, tablets, netobook, datashow and internet mainly. Data collection was carried out through surveys before and after the interventions, perception questionnaires on the use of technologies and gamification, as well as direct observations in the classroom. The results were obtained through the use of digital technologies and active methodologies, which enabled a significant advance in learning and boosted student motivation. In this scenario, it becomes a challenge for the student to make such digital tools available so that they can break with passivity and traditionalism in the classroom; In addition, another obstacle is that this methodology should not cause an exclusion to the student who does not have the necessary tool. The use of Digital Technologies for the classroom becomes a strong ally to provide innovative practices that provide tools for student learning. Teaching practice then takes on some challenges in the face of new technological demands, among them there is a need for training to support teachers, focusing on the use of technological resources as support for teaching and learning. Finally, the research aims to analyze how such mechanisms contribute to the improvement of educational processes, the commitment of students with regard to meaningful learning, in addition to identifying factors that can optimize their application at different levels of education.
