Playful activity plays an important role in child development, being able to encourage children to develop their skills, in addition to contributing positively to their complete development. Based on this, the present study aimed to investigate the role of playing in early childhood education, as well as its contributions to child development, through interviews and observations carried out in a municipal public school in the city of Escada/PE. The methodology used was qualitative, the study being carried out through semi-structured research on the role of playing in early childhood education. The study shows that students learn more through playing games and it can be concluded that the act of playing is essential for the complete development of children.
