Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is one of the main causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide, with a high prevalence in developing countries due to risk factors such as hypertension, diabetes and smoking. Early diagnosis and rapid intervention are crucial to reduce complications and improve clinical outcomes. In this scenario, nurses play an essential role in the management, rehabilitation and prevention of new cardiovascular events. This study analyzed the role of nurses in the management of AMI, focusing on technical care, health education and prevention strategies. Through a literature review, 18 relevant articles were identified. Two main categories emerged. The first highlights screening and early recognition of symptoms, highlighting the importance of nurses in rapid diagnosis and implementation of effective interventions. The second addresses the challenges faced, such as time pressure, emotional burden, complexity of symptoms and the need for constant updating to ensure quality of care. It is concluded that AMI requires early diagnosis and rapid intervention. Nurses play a crucial role in identifying and managing cases, educating patients and providing emotional support, overcoming challenges to provide effective care and improve clinical outcomes.
