Abstract

This article sought to identify the need for nurse training in working with patients in palliative care with neoplastic wounds. Methodology: This is a descriptive literature review. Results and discussion: Palliative care becomes humanized by seeking to go beyond treatment focused solely on the disease or the possibility of death. It is noted that, in the face of human terminality, palliative care is essential as it aims to provide better health conditions in the final phase of life, relieving suffering, anxiety, and depression in the face of death. Conclusion: The new definition of Palliative Care values quality of life rather than focusing on terminality, emphasizing the importance of a holistic and broad approach to these patients, promoting the prevention and relief of suffering. The limited and outdated literature available on the subject represents a limitation for the study, which reinforces its importance for nursing practice.
