This article sought to highlight the contribution of Spirituality and Religiosity (S/R) in alleviating the suffering of patients in Palliative Care (PC), seeking to improve the patient's quality of life in an integral way, with a focus on emotional and spiritual assistance. The methodology used was a qualitative bibliographic review, based on articles and studies that address the integration between S/R and PC, with an emphasis on the positive impact of religious and spiritual practices on the patient's experience. The work emphasizes that S/R, in addition to promoting effective cooperation with the patient, must also offer comprehensive support to family members, who need emotional support, and to the health team, who experience positive experiences throughout the process. As a result, Spirituality and Religiosity are presented as important tools in coping with the disease, positively impacting the reduction of negative feelings such as fear and anxiety, stimulating positive emotions during the health/disease process, as well as confidence for self-care and a new meaning to life. It is concluded that it is necessary to train health professionals, especially nursing staff, to deal with spiritual issues, recognizing religious practices in daily care and respecting individual beliefs and values, in order to provide humanized and effective care that takes into account the emotional, spiritual and physical dimensions in the context of palliative care.
