The Federal Accounting Council proposed curriculum changes for the Accounting program in partnership with the Ministry of Education (MEC), based on the need to provide a more market-relevant education. In light of this scenario, the present study aimed to analyze the perceptions of accounting students from the Cariri Region regarding the connection between academic training and the labor market. This was done through a survey conducted with students from two higher education institutions offering the Accounting program in face-to-face mode in the city of Juazeiro do Norte, Ceará. The survey allowed the collection of students' opinions on the skills and competencies acquired during their academic training, as well as their level of satisfaction with the curriculum and the job market's demands regarding accounting professionals.
