This study aims to highlight the reality of the prison system in Brazil, highlighting the difficulties faced by the State in fulfilling its obligations, as provided for in article 1 of the Penal Executions Law. This ineffectiveness results in losses for the effective resocialization of inmates, compromising their reintegration into society and hindering their individual recovery. The Brazilian prison system faces significant challenges, such as overcrowding, high recidivism rates, increasing violence and precarious living conditions for inmates. Many prisoners live with illnesses, lack access to education and are deprived of activities that promote their rehabilitation. In this context, a crucial aspect addressed in this study is APAC (Association for the Protection and Assistance of Convicts), which presents itself as an efficient alternative for the resocialization of prisoners. APAC's methodology values the individual and seeks their real reintegration into society, promoting a humanized and transformative approach to the prison system.
