This review aimed to investigate the importance and benefits of acupuncture in the treatment of chronic migraine. Migraine is a debilitating neurological condition that affects the quality of life of millions of people, and many conventional treatments do not provide satisfactory relief or come with undesirable side effects. Acupuncture, an ancient practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine, has emerged as an effective and safe therapeutic alternative. The analyzed studies indicate that acupuncture significantly reduces the frequency, intensity, and duration of migraine attacks, as well as the need for medication use. The mechanisms of action of acupuncture include the release of neurotransmitters such as endorphins and serotonin, which promote pain relief and balance the nervous system, providing a more holistic and less invasive treatment. Although further research is needed to consolidate these findings, the results suggest that acupuncture can be a valuable and complementary tool in managing chronic migraine, contributing to improved quality of life for patients.
