PHYSIOTHERAPY IN PATIENTS WITH GONARTHROSIS

Introduction: To highlight the importance of physiotherapy in the management of gonarthrosis treatment. Objective: To address the benefits of physiotherapy for patients. Materials and Methods: A systematic literature review was carried out, using national and international theses, dissertations and scientific articles from databases. Result: The review of studies on physiotherapy in patients with gonarthrosis reveals promising results and highlights the effectiveness of physiotherapeutic interventions. Fourteen studies published in the last seven years were analyzed, including randomized clinical trials, systematic reviews and meta-analyses. The results show significant improvement in pain, joint function, muscle strength and stability. Conclusion: Gonarthrosis, or knee osteoarthritis, is a common degenerative rheumatic disease, especially in women and the elderly. Physiotherapy is essential in the management of this condition, providing pain relief, improved joint mobility and quality of life. Techniques such as kinesiotherapy, Kot'z electrostimulation, cryotherapy and manual therapy are effective in reducing symptoms and improving function.
