Preventive veterinary medicine focused on small animals, such as dogs and cats, plays a crucial role in promoting public health. This study explores how the control of zoonosis through vaccination, deworming, and hygiene programs is fundamental in preventing the transmission of capanion animals deseases transmissions to humans. In this contex, the central question of this study is: How small preventive veterinary medicine for small animals promote public health comunity the well-being of the community? In this context, the objective is to understand and evaluate the effects of the absence of these measures, preventable diseases increased cost the increased cost of treating preventable diseases, analysis of existing preventive strategies in the scientific literature, and the benefits assessment generatedby the effective implementation of these practices for public health. The methodology is based on a bibliographic review, descriptive and explanatory, conducted through a qualitative approach. Research was carried out in databases such as SciELO, Google Scholar, academic repositories, journals, theses, books, scientific articles, and specialized websites. The analysis reveals that preventive veterinary medicine is essential for promoting public health, especially in urban environments where contact between humans and small animals is intense.
