Music therapy is a therapy that uses music to treat diseases and promote health. This therapy can be applied in different contexts, such as in operating rooms; during cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) treatments and singing groups. The objective of this review was to analyze the effectiveness of music therapy for anxiety, observe the groups that benefit from the use of music therapy, the diseases that benefit, the places where it can be expressively applied, analyze its most effective management and the scenarios that do not involve changes or that will have negative effects from its use. A search for previous works was carried out on the PubMed and BVS platforms, and a total of 25 scientific articles were included after using the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Among the studies analyzed, it was shown that music therapy is effective for the treatment of anxiety and also has benefits in chronic diseases, through the reduction of body anxiety. There were no adverse effects or worse evolution of the diseases, and the studies in which there were no visible benefits were the smallest number among those trained. Music therapy has improved quality of life in diverse clinical scenarios, being a strategy that corroborates the positive evolution of the disease.
