This article investigates the phenomenon of digital abandonment among children and adolescents, exploring the challenges and consequences associated with the indiscriminate use of technology and social media by this age group. Digital abandonment occurs when children and adolescents are exposed to online risks, such as bullying, predators, exposure to inappropriate content, and technology addiction, due to a lack of adequate supervision and guidance by parents and guardians. This study aims to understand the underlying causes of digital abandonment, identify its impacts on the mental health and well-being of young people, and examine existing strategies and policies to prevent and mitigate these risks. In this way, this research seeks to bring valuable information to parents, educators, health professionals, and policy makers in order to promote healthy and responsible use of technology by children and adolescents.
