This study explores the relationship between mental health and spirituality, focusing on the effects of religiosity and spirituality on psychological well-being. The goal is to examine the interaction between these elements, enhancing scientific understanding and contributing to more inclusive clinical practices. An integrative literature review, based on Creswell and Bardin, was conducted, selecting 21 articles from databases such as PubMed and Google Scholar. Keywords like "religion" and "mental health" were used to investigate the impact of religiosity and spirituality on spiritual coping and religious coping. Findings indicate that religiosity strengthens emotional resilience, aiding individuals in facing adversities. Spirituality is closely tied to the search for and reinforcement of life purpose, while religion has a direct impact on quality of life by providing emotional and social support. The analysis highlights the importance of the relationship between religion and psychology in promoting mental health. The conclusion underscores that religiosity and spirituality are fundamental to psychological well-being, significantly contributing to resilience, life purpose, and quality of life. It is suggested that these elements be integrated into psychosocial interventions and health policies to foster a more holistic and integrative approach to mental health care, incorporating spiritual coping as a coping strategy.
