Abstract

The efficacy of neuromodulatory therapies in the treatment of chronic neurological diseases has aroused increasing interest in the scientific community, given the complexity and variability of symptoms associated with these conditions. This integrative review aims to explore the current literature on neuromodulation modalities, including deep brain stimulation (DBS), transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), focusing on their therapeutic effects in diseases such as Parkinson's, epilepsy, neuropathic pain and multiple sclerosis. The search was carried out in relevant databases, resulting in the inclusion of 25 studies that address the clinical effects and quality of life of patients undergoing these interventions. The results showed that neuromodulatory therapies offer significant benefits in symptom reduction, functional improvement and seizure control, although efficacy varies between individuals and conditions treated. The review highlights the need for individualized protocols and additional research to establish clear guidelines for clinical application. It is concluded that neuromodulatory therapies represent a promising strategy in the management of chronic neurological diseases, although accessibility and cost issues must be addressed to optimize their use in clinical practice.
