NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL CHANGES IN LEWY BODIES DEMENTIA
DOI:
https://doi.org/10.51891/rease.v7i7.1673Keywords:
Lewy body dementia is the second most common form of neurodegenerative dementia, in which they are present due to cognitive fluctuations, motor parkinsonism, visual hallucinations and markedly reduced dopaminergic activity in the basal ganglia. The main pharmacological treatments proposed have been donepezil hydrochloride, rivastigmine, galantamine, memantine and olanzapine. Non-pharmacological treatments, on the other hand, consist of psychological interventions for visual hallucinations, physical exercises, music therapy, physiotherapy, electroconvulsive therapy and others. As it is a pathology with great prevalence, research is needed to enable faster, more reliable diagnoses and safer and more efficient treatments, since there is a shortage in relation to other neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson and Alzheimer.
