Abstract

Nephrolithiasis has a high prevalence all over the world, and this is no different in Brazil. As it is a disease with multifactorial causes, a metabolic investigation is crucial in order to establish the appropriate clinical treatment and prevent future recurrences, which are very common. It is important to note that, in many cases, this metabolic analysis does not take place, which hinders the long-term treatment of kidney stones, preventing prevention and causing economic losses to the health system. The aim of this article is to collect data on metabolic research in medical students at a private university in the city of Cascavel, Paraná. It is hoped that the data will indicate insufficient knowledge of the importance of metabolic investigation.
