NURSING CARE IN MONITORING CHILD GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT: INTEGRATIVE REVIEW

Goal: To analyze evidence in the literature on nursing care in monitoring child growth and development. Methods: This is a bibliographic review of the literature. The search strategy was carried out in September, by online access to the following databases: Nursing Databases (BDENF), Spanish Bibliographic Index in Health Sciences (IBECS), Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (MEDLINE). The following health descriptors were used: Nurses, Child, child, growth and development, growth and development, Primary Health Care, Primary Health Care. The research included: full articles, Portuguese and Spanish languages. Duplicate articles, theses and dissertations were excluded. A sample of 16 studies to be analyzed was reached. Results: For better assimilation of the data, the following thematic categories emerged: Nurses' performance during the monitoring of child growth and development; Assessment of the effects of educational actions on the growth and development of children; Adequate monitoring of child growth and development; Monitoring of child growth and development; Deviation in the development and growth of children. Final considerations: It is concluded that nursing care in monitoring child growth and development goes beyond the USF environment; it is characterized by the knowledge of professionals and parents on the subject, as well as the continuity of this care at other times in the individual's life. Therefore, the nurse and caregiver have a fundamental role in the development of children.
